.med Advisory Board Summary Findings

The .med Advisory Board serves to independently provide Medistry (the registry operator of .med) with Request for Proposal (RFP) guidelines, rules and criteria for the purpose of providing a trusted name space wherein users can come to find trusted sources for medical related information consistent with the mission of integrating clinical and hospital care with research and education in a digital world.

Determinations

  • Medistry is to permit all ICANN accredited registrars to on-board .med consistent with objectives for a competitive landscape.
  • Medistry is to permit all customers of .med accredited registrars the opportunity to register .med domains.
  • Medistry is to ensure requests for a .med domain originate from a .med accredited registrar.
  • Medistry is to make .med RFP registration rules and guidelines clear and transparent.
  • Medistry is to monitor RFP registrations against the .med Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).

RFP Registration Process:

  • Is to be Non-Discriminatory.
  • Not for controlling or regulating content.
  • Not for placing conditions of eligibility beyond the stated mission and purpose of .med.

Conclusions:

To the extent Medistry can automate the RFP to lessen or remove human review and interaction from time of request to registration approval it should seek to do so.

Implementation will produce a trusted name space that is non-discriminatory for both registrars and future .med domain name registrants.
